Foster-Jacob, Inc. is the oldest electrical contractor in central Illinois that is still owned by the original founder’s family. We are known to provide quality, professional service to thousands of satisfied residential, commercial, institutional and industrial clients.

It all began when John George (J.G.) Jacob started his business called Jacob Radio and Electric. He had worked through the 20’s and the Great Depression as an electrician before starting this business venture. Besides repairing radios and the typical electrical work, he marketed Delco batteries and electric wind plants to rural customers.

The company name was changed to J. G. Jacob and Sons when J.G.’s sons Ray, Joe and Ken were old enough to work in the late 1930’s and early 40’s. For a few years WW II called the sons away, but they returned to the business after their military service ended.

The mid 50’s brought another name change when the company merged with Foster Electric. Foster-Jacob, Inc. was formed and the Jacob family assumed full control of the new company. Foster-Jacob, Inc. is now in its third generation of J.G.’s family with Ray’s eldest son Gary R. Jacob, M.B.A. as President and CEO.

Gary started with the business almost from the time he could walk, going to job sites throughout the state with his grandfather (J.G.). After graduating from high school, Gary became an apprentice at age 17. Along with completing the apprenticeship, Gary also earned a M.B.A. from Bradley University.
